Solid state phonograph, Model P4378, made in Japan.
I just discovered as I was getting ready to list it, that it is designed to play not only 45 rpm records, but LPs as well.
The little 2" turntable moves to the side a little bit, and the speed changes to 33.
No damages to any part that I can see.
Nothing missing, cracked, or broken.
This has not been used for a long time, so here is my report.
I think a little bit of tinkering can improve its performance.
I put in 3 cheapo batteries and when I turn on the switch, it turns.
Was very sluggish, so I put a few drops of oil on places that looked like they might need some.
That made it turn at a more constant speed, though once in awhile it would stall out.
Volume is not very loud, but loud enough to hear what's playing.
Not sure if using Duracell batteries would improve the movement or the volume, but they might.
Anyhow, it's a fun little piece of phono history, and maybe you can improve its performance with a little cleaning, maybe another drop or two of oil.
I make many trips to the Des Moines area and can meet with a buyer in convenient location for the sale.
